What To Do On National Bourbon Day

It's a Wednesday  - my favorite day of the week, and it's National Bourbon Day. To celebrate the occasion here are a few places to explore bourbon's history, and try a few samples.

Ole Smoky Moonshine: America's MOST Visited Distillery

Check out Tennessee’s FIRST federally licensed legal moonshine distillery, the Ole Smoky Moonshine. The distillery, which has a location at 903 Parkway in Gatlinburg, TN the MOST visited distillery in America. And, this is the perfect place to sample some bourbon. Plus, along with great bourbon to sample the Ole Smoky Moonshine also host free concert's, and this week the Darrell Webb Band and Monroeville will be playing, so be sure to visit their website for full details on their distillery locations, free concerts, and other news.

Evan Williams Bourbon Experience

If you're in Louisville you can celebrate the legacy of Evan Williams, Kentucky’s first commercial distiller at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. This is one of the stops on the Bourbon Trail so you'll have plenty of options for sampling while in the area. The location is along downtown Louisville’s historic “Whiskey Row” and close to area hotel's and restaurant, which make's it easy to get to when walking around town.

Explore Kentucky's Bourbon History At The Frazier History Museum

The Frazier History Museum is located just down the block from the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. And, along with historic artifacts from Kentucky around the world, and the stunning Hunger Games: The Exhibition, the Frazier also explores the Bourbon history of the state. The Frazier has partnered with the Kentucky Distillers’ Association to present a Bourbon History exhibit that includes the actual Congressional resolution declaring Bourbon to be "America's Native Spirit." Use this link to learn more about Kentucky's bourbon history at the Frazier.
